🌟 Beginner's Core Guide

1. The Core Game Loop

In standard modes (Kanto and Johto), you start by drafting a team and navigating through maps of increasing difficulty.

  • Each trainer victory grants your active participants +2 Levels (increases to +3 Levels if holding a Lucky Egg and rolling a 30% trigger chance).
  • In Wild fights and Hard Mode, levels scale down to +1 Level per win.
  • Normal and boss losses lead to Game Over, unless you consume an Escape Rope from your bag to survive with 1 HP.

2. Evolving & Upgrading

  • Level Evolution: Pokémon automatically evolve when reaching their species level caps (e.g. Pikachu at level 20, Dragonair at level 58).
  • Moon Stone: Forces immediate evolution on a target regardless of level.
  • Eviolite Exception: Holding an Eviolite completely blocks evolution, but gives the holder +50% Defense & +50% Sp.Defense (crucial for Chansey, Scyther, and Kadabra).
  • TMs (Technical Machines): Upgrades your active Pokémon's move tier by 1 (up to Tier 3 maximum), increasing base PWR.

3. Nuzlocke (Hardcore) Mode

For players looking for the ultimate hardcore challenge, Nuzlocke Mode enforces strict permadeath, restricted level progression, and item bans. 👉 Read the full Nuzlocke Mode Rules & Survival Guide for details and survival strategies.
