Conquering Pokelike (Pokelike.xyz) requires detailed knowledge of Gym Leaders and Elite Four lineups, which are locked to specific regions and generations. Because battles are automated, your success depends entirely on pre-battle drafting, type coverage, and item positioning.

🟥 Kanto Gym Leaders & Elite Four (Gen 1 Mode)

In Kanto Mode, you face 8 Gym Leaders followed by the Elite Four and Champion Gary. Here is how to counter each boss.

1. Brock & Misty (Boulder & Cascade Badges)

  • Brock: Uses Rock/Ground types (Geodude and Onix). If you selected a Water or Grass starter, Brock is trivial. If not, draft any Grass or Water type in Layer 1 Catch nodes to secure a sweep.
  • Misty: Starmie is a dangerous dual Water/Psychic sweeper. An Electric or Grass type is highly recommended to shut down her Staryu and Starmie before they set up.

2. Lt. Surge (Thunder Badge)

Surge is the first real challenge of the run due to his held items:

  • The Threat: His Pikachu holds an Eviolite, boosting its defense by +50%, while Raichu carries a Life Orb for +30% damage.
  • The Counter: Draft Ground-type Pokémon (like Sandshrew/Geodude) or high physical attackers. Ground types are completely immune to Electric moves, neutralizing Surge's offensive pressure.

3. Erika & Koga (Rainbow & Soul Badges)

  • Erika: Erika's team is grass-heavy and tanky (Tangela carries Leftovers). Fire, Flying, or Ice sweepers will easily shred her team.
  • Koga: Koga relies heavily on Poison chip damage and tanky status spreaders (Koffings carry Rocky Helmet, Weezing carries Leftovers). Avoid physical attackers to prevent Rocky Helmet recoil; instead, draft Psychic or Ground-type special attackers (like Kadabra) to deal clean, ranged damage.

4. Sabrina & Blaine (Marsh & Volcano Badges)

  • Sabrina: Sabrina has high speed and massive Psychic special damage. Her Kadabra holds an Eviolite and Alakazam holds a Scope Lens (20% crit chance).
    • Strategy: Draft Dark-type Pokémon (for complete Psychic immunity) or use fast physical attackers. Priority held items like Quick Claw or King's Rock (30% flinch chance) can disrupt her speed.
  • Blaine: Blaine uses high-powered Fire sweepers (Arcanine carries Life Orb). Water, Rock, and Ground types will easily douse his flames.

5. Giovanni & Lorelei

  • Giovanni: Uses a heavy Ground/Rock team. Bring Water, Grass, or Ice moves. Watch out for his Rhydon holding a Rocky Helmet.
  • Lorelei (Elite Four): Lorelei is ice-heavy (Lapras carries Shell Bell, Cloyster carries Rocky Helmet). Do not use Grass or Flying types. Instead, bring Electric, Fighting, or Rock-type attackers to break her bulk.

6. Bruno & Agatha (Elite Four)

  • Bruno: Heavy Fighting/Rock team. Psychic and Flying types are outstanding counters against Machamp and the Hitmons.
  • Agatha: Ghost/Poison sweepers. Gengar holds a Scope Lens and Spell Tag. Bring Psychic or Dark-type moves, and make sure your team has sufficient Sp.Def (or Assault Vest) to survive Gengar's Shadow Balls.

7. Lance & Champion Gary

  • Lance: Lance uses a powerhouse Dragon/Flying team. Dragonite holds a Choice Band for +40% physical damage.
    • Strategy: Ice-type moves (Ice Beam, Blizzard) deal 4x damage to his Dragonites and Gyarados. An Ice-type attacker is almost mandatory to clear this stage without casualties.
  • Gary (Champion): Gary has a balanced team (Pidgeot, Alakazam, Rhydon, Exeggutor, Charizard). Ensure you have type coverage for all five, and lead with a fast Electric type to take out Pidgeot and Charizard.

🟦 Johto Gym Leaders & Elite Four (Gen 2 Mode)

In Gen 2 Mode, levels scale much higher, and you will eventually face 16 badges and Red.

1. Falkner, Bugsy, & Whitney

  • Falkner: Simple Flying types. An Electric or Rock draft makes this an easy win.
  • Bugsy: Bugsy's Scyther is fast and hits hard. Use Rock-type moves (Rock Throw/Slide) for 4x super-effective damage.
  • Whitney: Her Miltank is surprisingly tanky. Bring Fighting types (Machop/Primeape) to punch through her Normal typing.

2. Morty & Chuck

  • Morty: A pure Ghost team (Gastly, Haunters, Gengar). Psychic or Dark-type moves are highly effective.
  • Chuck: Chuck's Poliwrath is Water/Fighting. Use Electric, Grass, or Psychic moves to counter.

3. Jasmine, Pryce, & Clair

  • Jasmine: Steel/Electric team. Bring Ground or Fire moves (Steelix is Steel/Ground).
  • Pryce: Ice/Ground team. Use Grass, Fighting, or Steel moves.
  • Clair: Kingdra is Water/Dragon (only weak to Dragon and Fairy). Try to draft Fairy types or high physical sweepers.

4. Johto Elite Four & Champion Lance

  • Will: Psychic/Flying focus. Bring Dark, Ghost, or Ice attackers.
  • Koga: Bug/Poison heavy. Use Fire, Flying, or Psychic moves.
  • Bruno: Heavy Fighting team. Psychic and Flying types dominate.
  • Karen: Dark/Poison focus (Umbreon, Houndoom). Bring Fighting, Bug, or Ground moves.
  • Lance: Gen 2 Lance features three Dragonites. Bring high-powered Ice attackers to secure 4x sweeps.

🗼 Battle Tower & Endless Team Synergies

When scaling into high-level endless loops, raw stats are not enough. You must draft to trigger specific Type Traits:

  1. Steel Trait (T3 - T5): Reduces incoming damage by up to 75%. This is the single best defensive trait in the game, allowing you to tank boss hits.
  2. Ghost Trait (T1 - T3): Executes enemies below 15% / 30% / 50% HP. Highly recommended to bypass the massive, inflated health pools of late-stage bosses.
  3. Chansey + Eviolite Combo: Chansey holds an Eviolite (+50% Def/Sp.Def) and leverages Normal Trait (up to +100% max HP) to become an unkillable sponge.
